According to a CNN article analyzing an ABC News/Washington Post poll, Obama’s approval numbers are tanking in almost every area. Apparently we in America are slow-learners. I likened Obama to a snake-oil salesman prior to the election as he seemed so keen to say everything right without regard to reality. This seemed to woo the masses and carried him to an easy victory over an aged and pandering opponent. America wanted that mystery cure-all so badly, they didn’t think through what the consequences were – the economy, national status, security, liberty, etc. They just wanted somebody that wasn’t George Bush, and that sounded good being it.
Well here you go, you genius 53% segment of the active voting public that elected him. How are “words” doing for you? How is that unimportant missing track record? How are grand theories and Ivy League educations treating you? Unless you’re politically connected to the “in” party, probably not-so-well. Some of you have displayed buyer’s remorse. Those of you that had half a brain anyways…
So remember this in November 2010 and 2012: Lofty words mean nothing. A candidate whose stance changes like a chameleon’s colors is not to be trusted. If it sounds like honey coming from a politician it’s crap. And finally, the blame game means that you’ve got no plan. Vote this guy and his party out in their respective elections, and then target the GOP as they’ve proven little better…

As Trish said, Obama has no plan and no clue: that is a dangerous combination. It is hard to believe that a majority of Americans fell for this man’s rhetoric, but they did and we are paying the price.
It probably sounds fascist, and is completely unconstitutional to my understanding, but I’d really like to test people to see if they are smart enough, or just plain aware of what they are voting for prior to allowing them to vote. Again, I probably sound like an @$$ for saying it, but when we consistently vote like zombies, what do we expect to get?
Um, just so we’re clear here, all of this is just sound and fury– you want to understand Obama’s approval, just look at the economy. The evidence is overwhelming that is the cause: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/10/AR2010071000071.html
And, if you think the current state of unemployment is his fault, I’d like to know what you’d do differently (and please don’t tell me tax cuts.
Steve,
Thanks for stopping on by. For those of you who don’t know Steve, he has his own blog (click on his name to go there). He and I have quite opposing opinions on things, but he is well-researched and well-written.
That being said, I’m going to go right where you didn’t want me to go Steve: Tax cuts. I’m not talking about income tax cuts, although, that would spur people to buy or save more. I’m talking about payroll tax cuts. This is a hurdle to hiring for companies. Reducing the cost of hiring incentivizes employers to be able to do more of it. Additional tax incentives to hiring can be tacked on to make it very appealing for employers to hire, and keep employees. Those come at a cost, but those could have been calculated and withdrawn from the “stimulus” funds that have yet to be distributed.
Personally, I was against the stimulus because I had no faith in our government’s ability to do something in an efficient matter. What we got was lots of political hands in the pot looking to give kickbacks to supporters, and what could have been a boost really was more of a ripple. If Obama was a leader — considering it was his own party in control of congress — he would have either been able to get things right, or stop blaming the previous administration who didn’t get to try a ‘stimulus’ package. I was not one of the unlucky people to have voted for him, but I’m still disappointed with the product.
Maybe I am getting old, but I remember getting a stimulus check from Bush and the congressional republicans. We seen how well that stimulated the economy. It created a small blip and quickly dissipated. The ARRA suffers from the same problem (in addition to others). This congress is probably the most incompetent one that I have ever seen.
Don’t forget that besides the fact that he “has no plan”, and “has no clue” how to run a country…..that he is the poster boy for “corruption”. You mention that so many young people voted him in…..yet we’re finding out through an independent watch group, that there were thousands upon thousands of fraudulent votes that were cast for him. Yes, we can thank Acorn for all those phony people etc.
What disturbs me though, is how this revelation is not prompting some kind of impeachment or how the establishment is ignoring all the corruption that is slowly being revealed.
Like it or not….we are being governed by an oligarchy, and a tyrant!
“so many young people voted him in”
Didn’t someone once say that youth was wasted on the young? I typically look to who all of the young people are voting for, and decide that’s a bad option. Being cool, looking good in a suit, or spouting flowers out your arse are big draws on most of the young voters. Once experience set in, voters start to ask questions like “what have you done?” “Can you give me examples of how your successes with these ideas?”, etc.
I really think Obama got elected for most of the wrong reasons: He wasn’t Bush (somehow McCain was?), he was black (well, half-black), he sounded so great saying things (many lawyers do, that believable bunch), we needed to punish the Republicans for this mess (the Democrats had NOTHING to do with this mess, right?), he was going to go out and get those evil rich and reduce everyone else’s taxes as a result (well, let’s redefine what taxes are), he was a true uniter (he would bring all parties together with his perfect diplomacy), he was a true leader (based on his massive track record of leadership, right), and so on.
We’ve all made a purchase we wish we didn’t. This one just broke the bank.
A little hard to have remorse when both products were defective.
There were definitely other choices, but I don’t know the other “one” was defective — I didn’t select that product either. It had been a good model, just got prone to pandering in the last few years.
Personally, I prefer track record over BS, which is what the public bought hook, line, and sinker.
The 2008 model was not a good one. Especially if you considered the accessories. It was the pandering, track record, and proposed policies that made it unattractive. I would have much preferred the 2000 model; that was a good one. Things would have been much different it that was the one presented to us.
True, 2008 left me thinking: “300 million people in this country, and these are our options?!”
Unfortunately, the ones best qualified do not seek office (or chased out by the extremists of the parties).
There were choices……the choice of the lesser of two evils.
Unfortunately….the worst one won (through corruption…illegal votes).
And now that he is in….he is doing all things (legal or not), to fulfill his agenda.
Hi Ben,
Thanks for stopping by.
I do actually think based on the polls that people either would currently, or shortly would prefer a Republican (if that’s their only other choice) in the White House.
I’m no fan of the GOP, but I don’t like one party dominating the legislative and executive branches. Allows for too much foul play…
While people may not be satisfied with Obama, that doesn’t mean they’d rather have a Republican in the White House.
